About the Artist

DAVID ROEHM (Pronounced REEM), a local artist and the creator of Funkyfishart.com has been inspired by both fishing and snorkeling off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, fishing Chokoloskee Island and the flats off of Islamorada .

Dave, who was born and raised in Broward County, Florida, can remember when Alligator Alley was a two lane road, when Anglin's Pier charged you only a quarter, when you could ride the train at Birch State Park and survive a leap off of the 17th Street Causeway Bridge - you could always eat the fish which you took without the fear of pollution!
Those were the good old days; many of the quaint old bars, hangouts and fishing spots, which are now long gone, are depicted in Dave's artistry - and are not done on the usual canvas.

He specializes in decorating unusual items with his Funkyfishart - unique colorful original creations, such as a fire hydrant, a fish mount as a piece of wood sculpture or just about anything you can think of.

His personal touches, imagination, lots of paint and techniques involving sea glass, shells and other materials, result in tastefully done artwork which are reflective of his own whimsical influences.
If you are merely looking for the usual run of the mill "cookie cutter" marine artwork, Dave's work might not be your cup of tea; however, if your imagination matches Dave Roehm's enthusiasm for island-style fish paintings, you have come to the right site.

His artwork will be featured at the IGFA - starting in April, 2010 and running through October, 2010 ... and while you are becoming acquainted with Dave's funkyfishart, do consider joining the IGFA - and help do your part to insure the future of our oceans.
